Wrestling with the Call of God

Jeremiah was called by God to serve as a prophet during a dark and tumultuous period in Judah's history. From a young age, he was set apart for a purpose he himself did not choose and often struggled with the weight of his calling. Jeremiah’s journey reminds us that God’s plans frequently do not match our personal ambitions or comforts. Yet, God's purposes are always for His glory and our ultimate good. Jeremiah endured rejection, hardship, and loss—in obedience to a calling he sometimes wished he could escape. Theologically, we see God’s sovereignty in choosing and equipping unlikely people for His mission. Like Jeremiah, all believers are called to trust and obey, surrendering their will for God’s greater plan. Spiritual fulfillment and peace come not from resisting God's call, but by embracing it with trust in His wisdom and love, even when it leads through difficulty or uncertainty.

Key Takeaway

Lasting peace is found in surrendering to God's call—not our personal preferences.
